CELTIC ran out 3-1 winners against Sarajevo after surviving an early scare in Bosnia on Tuesday night.

A mix up in defence gave Sarajevo a corner and with the ball put into the box, the defending was sloppy as the home side took the leade.

Mikey Johnston would drag Celtic back into it with a belter of a goal just five minutes later and from there the players never really looked back. Coming out in the second half the bhoys looked positive and it would be Osdonne Edouard keeping his cool and sticking the ball in the back of the net to take the lead on the 50th minute.

Sinclair added to the scoreline to make it 3-1 on the night with a cheeky backheel.

Given this was Celtic’s first competitive game in over six weeks, with a makeshift defence and torrential rain playing its part, it was a good night’s work for Celtic who will be home for the return leg with two away goals.

The win did come at a cost for Celtic and that was two bhoys walking off injured. The pitch was in shocking condition, cutting up badly on the night. Celtic’s new bhoy Boli went off injured early in the second half, being replaced by Jonny Hayes. The goal hero, Mikey Johnston wasn’t far behind him as he too had to sit out the rest of the game.

Neil Lennon would be taking no chances but we await the news on the status of both players.

Here are our three standout takeaways from this match:

  • Sarajevo’s pitch is so shockingly bad Kilmarnock fans are having a go!
  • Mikey Johnston is a pler! (Player for all you educated delinquents)
  • Chris Sutton had to concede Odsonne Edouard was talented from the commentary booth.

Onto the second leg.
