Neil Lennon has explained the absence of two players from the Celtic training camp.

Celtic are in France ahead of the new season, looking to get match sharp for their ten in a row season. However, another two bhoys haven’t made the trip and Neil Lennon explains why:

“Mikey’s got an injury and he’s back home. He has been having problems with his calves and he needs to see a specialist.” Lennon told Celtic TV.

“He’s not had much luck. It’s been a bit stop start but with his age and going through the maturation process he’s picking up injuries. It’s frustrating for him and frustrating for us. Bayo has an injury too and he is getting treatment.”

This is a major blow for Mikey who has spent most of the last 12 months on the treatment table. Bayo also suffering and injury highlights the lack of depth in the striking department. Leigh is unfit and was left behind, Celtic will likely start their league campaign with just TWO fit strikers. If either Eddy or Klimala gets injured – the bhoys will have a big problem.

Celtic are up against PSG on Tuesday before coming home and beginning final preparations for next season.

Mikey could be left behind if his development keeps suffering. Luckily, Celtic have managed to secure Moi Elyounoussi for next season. The Norwegian scorer against Lyon at the weekend.
