Celtic’s 7-1 win over Dundee this evening reminded manager Brendan Rodgers of his first spell in charge of the club.

It was a terrific performance from the Hoops as they swept their opponents aside. Cameron Carter-Vickers opened the floodgates before six of his teammates got their goals.

There are a host of positives to take from this evening’s victory. The fact there were seven different scorers will please manager Brendan Rodgers, as will the intensity with which his team played their football.

The Bhoys were on it from the start, failing to give up throughout the game. The gaffer was a happy man post-match: “You can see with players starting to come back, how that connects everything in the team”, he said (BBC Sportsound).

“What was really pleasing in the second-half was we didn’t get into a comfort zone.

“Overall, a fantastic performance and a great result for us.”

Many fans drew comparisons between Ange Postecoglou’s team and the football that was played this evening.

For the current boss, tonight’s performance reminded him of his previous spell in charge of the club: “That took me back to when I was first here”, he said.

In his maiden period at the helm, Rodgers led the Celts to a double treble. His prior track-record was a huge factor in him returning to the club, and him now getting flashbacks to that period is hugely exciting for fans.
