At first glance, should any Celtic fan really been concerned or moved by the news Odsonne Edouard has been called up to the French under 23s? Probably not.

However, given the short time between now and the end of the season where Celtic are playing dead rubbers nobody outside the club are looking at, there’s a genuine opportunity to see Eddy’s stock rise up one last time on the international stage.

The incentive for Celtic is to see the striker head out, continue his incredible goal scoring spree for his country and add some extra value to his transfer fee this summer.

Eddy’s Celtic departure is so inevitable the debate has shifted from if he will go to how much the club can realistically get for their star asset.

Given he’s in the last year of his contract, it might not hit the upper echelon of what we could’ve got last summer but it should still fetch a pretty penny. A shinier penny if he scores a few goals for his county.
