We’re used to former Celts taking aim at the club on a regular basis these days but Charlie Nicholas really can’t help himself.

After Celtic were brushed aside by Bayern Munich the Sky pundit declared that Brendan Rodgers will eventually ‘get bored’ of managing Celtic.

“Celtic have always gone on the cheap route. “I used to be quite hard on Celtic at this level because it is the true judgement, for me. It’s not domestically because they’re far too good for everybody.

“Can they get to that top level? You can if you build the right way. “But I don’t know if Brendan will stick around long enough to build the right way because he will eventually get bored of the domestic scene.”

Spoken like a man who doesn’t watch Celtic on a weekly basis. Do you agree with him?

  2. Who’s Charlie Nicholas? maybe he and that so called other pundit should compare notes about Motherwells big European challenge but then again I don’t think soccer teams can compete in Eurovision Song Contests.

    • i think you might be getting him mixed up with former Celtic and West Ham legend Frankie boy McAvennie, there is no evidence to support the fact that Charlie uses Hookers or sniffs coke or indeed guzzles Champagne .As far as i know he is a happily married man to a lady from Stirling . However in my opinion he is bang on with the statement about Celtic becoming a Top European team that will give the Big Players Bayern, PSG, Juve, Barca a run for their money and that it has to be built with vision and from the strong foundations a Top team can sustain that level week in week out .

  11. Why don’t these douchebags like Charlie realise we, and Brendan are here for the 10? This guy chose Liverpool over Arsenal ffs. He’s been getting paid to talk unarticulated pish on mid table EPL games for so long he’s forgot where he’s fae. Also, nobody seems to be giving Bayern any credit for last night; Robben, Muller, Lewandowski etc. The goals were soft but overall they were excellent.

    • I agree 100.per cent.SF…Stein wouldn’t have tolerated a disruptive influence such as Nicholas. He would have launched him Doon. London Road.It’s well documented McNeil threatened him about his indiscipline about knowing his place as far as the Mouth was concerned.

  20. Charlie was a great player 1981-1983 then got bored of the Scottish game. His own game went on a downward spiral thereafter. His return in 1990 underlined the old adage that you should never go back. A shadow of the footballer who left. These days, I’m afraid to say, he’s just an inarticulate buffoon. Shame really.
