Chris Jullien is currently in Germany undergoing his medical ahead of his proposed move to Schalke.
It’s thought that the defender will join the club on an initial loan before the club have a decision to bring Jullien to Germany permanently next summer.
His medical will be extremely thorough given his injury spell. He’s barely played a game of football in eighteen months, meaning there is a high risk he could fail his medical.
Derek Rae has claimed the Celtic defender is going through an athletic examination which is even more extensive than the usual medical.
Jullien said to have already decided in favour of S04 over Stade Rennes & FC Lorient. Has prior experience in Germany with Freiburg but only ever made 1 Bundesliga app. Schalke in need of defensive help with Ko Itakura gone & Malick Thiaw likely to leave for significant money.

He spent fourteen months sidelined with a horror injury which he’s yet to fully recover from.
It’s a worry heading into this medical, that if he fails, he could face another twelve months sitting in the stands at Celtic.
Celtic Will be Cautious Before Finding a Replacement
If Celtic rush into finding a replacement they could risk bringing a player in needlessly while still playing Chris Jullien’s wage.
Celtic will hope that he passes his medical and he can remove himself from the club’s wage budget and they can spend their money better elsewhere.
