CHRIS SUTTON believes Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis can feel a bit hard done by after he was left on the bench last weekend against St Mirren.

The Hoops fell to a surprising 2-0 defeat in Paisley after Ange Postecoglou made SIX changes to the previous starting XI. When the team sheet came out before the game, many assumed GG would get the nod on the day, but Kyogo started up front.

It was a day to forget for everyone of a Celtic persuasion, but Chris revealed he felt a bit sorry for the Greek striker.

“I have to say, I felt a bit sorry for Giorgis Giakoumakis not to get a start. With so many alterations, the Greek must have thought he’d get the nod. The game was already getting away from Celtic by the time he appeared.” Sutton Wrote in his RECORDSPORT column.

GG is currently on international duty with Greece at the moment. The frontman missed the game at the weekend due to suspension and an injury concern.

The Greek medical team sent the striker for a scan earlier this week with nothing too concerning coming back. The Celtic star is said to be in a little bit of discomfort at the moment, but he remains with the Greek side at the moment.

The bhoys are all due back at Lennoxtown later this week to prepare for the Saturday Celtic Park tie against Motherwell. If fit, maybe GG will start against the Steelmen.
