BT Sport pundit and former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton has praised Neil Lennon side’s performance last night, away to Lille.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Scottish Football Extra, Sutton felt that Lennon was ‘getting his Celtic team back’ that we saw last season. But he also warned, the players need to keep up this level of performance to get back to the success we have seen in the last few years.

“I don’t want to go overboard, but it looks like Neil Lennon is getting his Celtic team back from last season.

“I do think that they upped their game, upped their performance levels last night. But they need to be more consistent clearly.”

Last nights performance was much more like the Celtic of old, as Sutton says. We competed with a top European side and showed the fight that we haven’t seen yet this season.

Although, it was an impressive one, I would be reluctant just yet to say we have them back. We need to be looking for performances like that consistently again.

That has to begin from Sunday with the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen. We should be using Thursday as the first building block to getting back to the level that we know this squad is capable of doing.
