Chris Sutton never misses the opportunity for a wind up, and Saturday was no different when the former Celtic striker took his seat at BBC Radio 5 live.

Sutton is part of the football phone in after Saturday afternoon’s fixtures where the show takes calls from all over the UK.

During the show, Chris urged Rangers fans to phone in asking them about the win against Kilmarnock.

However, he couldn’t help himself by stating The Rangers grabbed their ‘obligatory’ penalty during the tie at Ibrox.

He put it out there on BBC Radio 5: “Let’s hear from Rangers fans. A lot of dissatisfaction last week losing the cup to your big rivals, Celtic.

“Let us hear from you, Rangers fans, are you still in a title race after the win today against Kilmarnock?

“Obligatory penalty awarded at Ibrox but is there that belief do you think, does Michael Beale believe?”

It’s a running joke in Scottish football that the Ibrox club will at some point during a game be awarded a penalty. A lot of the time for very little. In contrast, they’ve still to concede a penalty in the league this season.

They didn’t manage to get a penalty in the League Cup Final, but that’s more to do with Celtic keeping them out of the box for most of the game.

Celtic defeated the Ibrox club 2-1 on the day to retain their League Title and send their rivals into quite the spiral.
