RYAN Christie has confessed to having reservations about his decision to leave Celtic, attributing his second thoughts to the arrival and subsequent success of manager Ange Postecoglou.

Christie was revitalised under Postecoglou, playing exceptionally well on the left wing. Across Champions and Europa League qualifying, and the SPFL, he played nine games, and contributed to four goals.

He was a totally different player from the player who had played the season prior, under Neil Lennon, who was getting on the fans’ nerves.

He left for a fee, despite having just six months left on his contract, and has played well ever since with Premier League side Bournemouth.

Celtic are on the brink of a domestic clean sweep with a Scottish Cup final victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the club where the Scotland midfielder began his career.

Speaking on Postecoglou’s first six months at Celtic, the midfielder admitted he had second thoughts about a move, saying: [BBC]

“I got to see first hand for a couple of months how good Ange was.

“It was one of the main things in my head when I was thinking about staying.

“I was really impressed and it’s not a surprise to me what Celtic have done since he came through the door.

“I got a pre-season under him and I loved the way he wanted to play and loved the way he got his point across on the training pitch.

“He was so all or nothing with his beliefs. When you have that absolute mindset, it normally pays off and you’re seeing that with the Celtic team right now.”
