THE First Minister Humza Yousaf humorously suggested he had his parliamentary staff investigate whether the First Minister could intervene in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Celtic’s manager, Ange Postecoglou.

The SNP leader, a dedicated Celtic supporter, is an admirer of the Hoops’ boss and is keen for the Aussie to stay put in Glasgow.

Ange Postecoglou has been increasingly linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks, with the London club making the manager their top target.

Yousaf, the leader at Holyrood, made a unique appearance on the Superscoreboard phone-in on Clyde 1.

He quipped: [Clyde SSB]

“I asked my team to see if there’s anything within my ministerial powers to stop Ange leaving Celtic – if, of course, the rumours are true. Of course, there’s nothing I can do. I would be gutted.”

The First Minister is full of praise for the Celtic boss, saying his style of play is great, and matched with his recruitment, he’s been a ‘revelation’ for the Scottish game.

“I think he’s been a real revelation. Not just as a manager and his tactics but also the players he’s brought in – like Kyogo and Hatate – I just don’t think they would’ve come to the Scottish Premiership if he hadn’t brought them.”

It was a strange appearance on the evening call-in, but it did show a different side to the First Minister who’s only been in the job a few months.

  1. I was told told our manager was a man you could trust that would not walk away from a job he is only two seasons in to,he gets money this season and so on, Ange could do some thing Very Special it is a fans dream job great pay so i think he Ange will stay another 3 seasons then move on,he does not do walking away…

    • Read the signs mate, he’s away.
Pity but if he gets a crack at Spurs he probably thinks this is his last chance to make it with an EPL side.
Wish him all the best if he goes, disappointing but he’s done it all here and our team is nowhere good enough to compete in European competition so he’s hit a glass ceiling, just like Brendan did
