After Christopher Jullien’s deal to FC Schalke collapsed the French defender is yet to attract any further interest [Football Scotland].

It looks as though the 29-year old’s time is up in the Hoops with it being highly likely that Ange Postecoglou wants to move the defender on as he is surplus to requirements.

During Celtic’s first competitive game of the season, Postecoglou opted for new boy Moritz Jenz to be the substitute defender while in the Hoops most recent match last weekend brought Carl Starfelt back to the bench having missed all of pre-season due to an injury sustained on international duty with Sweden.

Even though the Australian manager may want to move Jullien on, it looks as though he could still be a Celtic player come September with there being very little interest shown in the defender.

For once, there is strong competition at centre back this season with there being at least four players in front of Jullien in the pecking order.

After such a lengthy spell out, the Frenchman badly needs game time which is something Postecoglou just can’t offer him.

He looked all but set to be heading to the Bundesliga, but the deal broke down to personal terms failing to be agreed.

If there is no bids coming forward, his career could be in further limbo until January with it being possible that the once £7 million defender could exit Parkhead on a pre-contract with another club.
