Celtic could begin their Celtic summer exodus early with the news coming out of Belgium this morning that Oostende are set to trigger their first option clause on Jack Hendry.

What does that mean?

They can offer the player terms on a permanent deal to keep Jack in Belgium as long as they meet the agreed upon asking price.

It’s not automatic and Jack could turn the deal down if he sees his future elsewhere.

Speaking to RecordSport Oostende Executive President Gauthier Ganaye seems very keen to get a deal done:“It is no secret that it is a loan with an option.

“We have the option to make it permanent before the summer.

“I am very hopeful that will happen.

“We are very happy with Jack and he is one of the reasons why the team has been doing so well this season.

“We have ambitions between now and the summer and then we want to strengthen again for next season and we want Jack to remain a big part of things.”

The fee isn’t confirmed but it won’t be earth shattering.

Jack might be cautious to sign anything before he sees what Celtic have in store for him. Could a new boss come in and give the player a chance.

The defender just got back into the Scotland squad and could be a contender for the Euro’s. There’s a chance Oostende are trying to exercise this option to sell Jack on for a decent fee not so long down the road.

Fair play to the lad, instead of moaning or languishing in our reserves he’s moved country and made a name for himself in the Belgian League. But that might not translate to first team football in Glasgow.
