Celtic begin a new season tonight with a Champions League qualifier at Paradise. We feel the word “new” will become a theme for Celtic teams over the coming months.

Our new manager begins one of the biggest Celtic rebuilds in living memory and in pure Celtic fashion we are shown up late to the party. We don’t want to start pouring negativity on a brand new season before it has even begun but the lack of defenders at the club coupled with the amount of time the board has had to sort the problem out is worrying, frustrating and annoying.

OK, enough. Let’s create a blind spot to all last season’s problems and just focus on the game for at least ninety minutes with somewhat of a blank mind and a reluctant bit of optimism.

We know Ajer was not registered for Europe and is on the brink of signing for Brentford.  Christoper Jullien is still out injured which leaves the manager with a hard task. We believe the back four is key to Celtic getting a result tonight and with the teams just announced this is what Ange has picked as his first competitive Celtic team:

I haven’t read any fans comments on the team sheet yet but Nir Bitton as a Centre back for the 3rd year in a row is bound to stir it up. There is nothing the manager can do about this or Bitton himself but it’s shocking.

Hopefully, the game is played in the opposition box and we don’t have to worry too much about our defence, Celtic have enough firepower to do the job tonight.
