Yesterday, during Birmingham City’s 1-0 opening day victory over Brentford there was a lot of confusion surrounding Blues former striker Alvara Gimenez.
As reported by the Birmingham Live, during the game, for some reason it was claimed by the Sky Sports commentator that the Spaniard striker had signed for the Scottish Champions.
Gimenez, who departed the Championship side this summer, to join Cadiz in his homeland had been linked with the hoops in recent months. He has in fact threatened to quit his current side, due to the fact he was left out of the 23-man squad for the La Liga opener against Osasuna.
This comment came as a strange one, as there doesn’t appear to be anything in that move currently and manager Neil Lennon has just recently signed £5 million man, Albian Ajeti as well as having several other striking options at the club, such as Odsonne Edouard, Patryk Klimala and the returning Leigh Griffiths.
We will see if anything does come of it over the next few weeks, but it does just appear to just be a error by the Sky Sports pundit on the day.
