SHANE DUFFY claims his former Brighton team-mate Connor Goldson told him not to come to Glasgow when speculation linking the Irishman with the Scottish Champions emerged.
Duffy was officially unveiled as a Celtic player on Tuesday after the announcement was made late last week. The Irishman seems focused and excited to be at a club he’s supported since he was a young bhoy.
His pal, who plays across the city, was not so enamoured with Duffy’s choice but Shane did say there’s a great friendship between the two.
However, Shane also made it clear, in the heat of battle, there will be no friends on the pitch as he looks to make history with the club.
“He actually told me not to come,” Duffy told Herald Sport. “He said ‘stay away!’ But we have a good relationship.
“I am very close with Connor from my Brighton days. It’s a difficult one. It’s different up here but we are close so yeah…it’s an awkward one!
“He is still my friend so it’s hard to tell what will happen because the rivalry is so fierce.
“He’s a mate but listen, when I play against him, he won’t be a mate. He will be the exact same!”
Goldson has spent two seasons in Glasgow and has nothing to show for it apart from a runners up medal in the League cup.
Shane could make his debut as early as Saturday when Neil Lennon’s men head to Dingwall to take on Ross County. The game will have a fan test event where 300 staggies will be allowed into the stadium to watch the game.
Goldson knows what Shane brings to the table. Goldson is a poor defender. He struts around as if he was Beckenbauer, in fact, he couldn’t tackle a fish supper. Face up to him and he always turns away to send the ball back to Alki McGregor.

They should seek each other out at the end of the next Derby and hug, laugh and exchange tops, and start a precedent . As they only wear nylon shirts with a couple of slogans on them. And Maybe Shauns Hoops top won’t fit Stonner.
