Celtic cruised into the next round of Champions League qualifiers with a 6-0 aggregate win over Alashkert but the game was not without its controversy.
With Celtic winning 1-0 at the start of the game, the bhoys were in control when Jozo raised his boot to try and make a clearance.
The referee quickly whistled with the home support sure he was about to see yellow when the referee brandished his red.
Watching it back, it was extremely harsh.

The referee was having a nightmare and it paid dividends for Celtic minutes later when the bhoys were awarded a soft penalty to make it 2-0.
Whether the referee’s incompetence disadvantages us (Jozo’s red card) , or advantages us (soft penalty), there is no place in top EUropean competition for incompetent referees. We see enough of that in the SPFL!

Anyone who thinks that was harsh needs to sort themselves out. Just because you support Celtic doesn’t mean you should refuse to accept the rules. The opposition player headers the ball, that’s how high the ball is in the air and the moron tries to kick, he misses(obviously) and kicks he player in the hip. Unnecessary stupidity exactly the same at Ibrox last season. He’s had some good games but ultimately big jozo is clueless
Crap referee but completely idiotic tackle from Simunovic.
Straight leg, high, studs showing and right into opppnent’s hip. Red card all day. All things considered I really wonder if this guy’s worth all the money we paid for him.
My seat is right at the half way line, so I had a good view of the incident.
The studs of Simunovic’s boot made contact with his opponent’s hip, and was a stone wall red card.
The crowd in the north stand let out a cry of oooh! when contacts was made.
Sometimes it really is a glaring red card.
