It has been well over a year since Celtic supporters last saw Christopher Jullien in action after the French defender picked up a horrible knee injury in the final game of 2020 against Dundee United.

The 28-year old has slowly been making his way back to fitness, training amongst the first team, as well as being on the bench on a few occasions for Ange Postecoglou over the past month.

However, the former Toulouse man is still awaiting his return to competitive action. So could this weekend’s Scottish Cup tie be the best opportunity for him to be introduced?

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s game, Postecoglou confirmed that Jullien would be involved in the squad this weekend after missing out over the last few matchdays.

Whilst no game can ever be taken lightly, with the fact that we are coming up against a side from the league below, it could prove as a good opportunity for Jullien to receive his first piece of competitive football since December 2020.

Of course, there will be a decision made, whether that is to be off the bench or from the start.

But either way, you would imagine that the coaching staff and medical team would be looking at this fixture as an ideal time for Jullien to get some minutes into his legs after so long out.

I am sure if the Frenchman was to be involved, the Celtic support would be delighted to see him back in the Green and White Hoops after what would have been such a difficult 12 months or so.

  1. Don’t underestimate the opposition, no time for complacency of any kind. If we are well ahead bring him on from the bench for second half
