Ever since bursting on the scene against Hearts in the Betfred Cup semi-final in 2018, Ryan Christie really hasn’t looked back.

At the beginning of last season, he had a frightening start and looked as though he could be well on his way to receive a player of the year award if he kept his form up. In the end, he didn’t win this award, but the midfielder still put in some top-class performances.

So it comes as no surprise that clubs would be interested in him. In an interview with the Glasgow Times, his dad talked about the interest in his son and how he believes he could succeed, no matter what league he plays in.

“Ryan is very ambitious, and he loves playing for Celtic. But I have no doubt there will be other clubs looking at him. To score 20 goals from midfield by March, it would be mad for scouts not to have him on their radar, and I mean the very top level.

I would temper that by saying that he’s having the time of his life at Celtic. He’s got a nice flat in a nice area of Glasgow and he says there’s a real bond in the changing room and he’s very close friends with a lot of guys in there.

I think Ryan could play at that level. There are a lot of Celtic players who could. They have an abundance of talent. We watch the English Premier League and see how John McGinn has thrived, how Stuart Armstrong is doing so well. I just don’t think we give our players enough credit.”

Of course, his dad is going to back his son’s ability and rightly so when you’re talking about a player of Ryan Christie’s quality.

Although, there may have been a slight hint that Ryan could be interested in a move elsewhere someday, it also sounds like he is loving life at Celtic and couldn’t be happier with life in Glasgow right now.

Fans will be hoping we can see a similar start to the season, like last from the 25-year old and continue his impressive performances which we have come so used to seeing on a regular basis.
