Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has started the Hoops’ last two games and scored twice. He is on a notable run of form, and his celebration of the goal that kicked it off drew the attention of many.

Indeed the midfielder rattled home with swerve and power at home to St. Mirren. After the goal, he put his fingers in his ears, an action that got many talking.

The player himself, however, has now given his reasoning behind it. Turnbull said (Daily Record): “It’s one of those ones. I’ve scored a goal and I was obviously delighted, but sometimes you do, boys get a bit of criticism here and there and you try and block it out as much as you can. So that’s all I was trying to do.”

Josip Juranovic regularly churned out a celebration similar to Turnbull’s when he was at Celtic. There wasn’t anything behind the right-back’s compared to the midfielder’s, though.

Turnbull is a player who has received criticism from sections of the Parkhead faithful. Although it may be warranted, one can have few issues about his performances over the past few days.
