Celtic have announced this afternoon they have scheduled a surprise closed door reserve game at Lennoxtown against a Brentford B side.

The Reserve side don’t have a lot of meaningful fixtures with Celtic being one of many teams who pulled out of the ill-fates reserve league after last season.

There’s a lot of talent bubbling under the surface at Celtic Park and if you’re not convinced of that then just look at the starting XI today.

Dembele starting with the likes of Oko-flex, Afolabi and Connell who makes his return from injury make the game an exciting proposition.

New full Ireland international Lee O’Connor takes the captains armband for the day and Jack Hendry is among the reserve players.

There are at least five players who could legitimately stake their place for a space in the first team squad over the next six months and these kind of games will shape who makes the cut and who stays in the reserves for longer.
