Derk Boerrigter has said it has been a bitter season for him with his ankle injury flaring up and stopping him from getting in the starting XI.

“It has been bitter for me to have my season overshadowed by my ankle injury. But once I am fully fit and back to my old level I know for sure that I can play an important role for Celtic.” Said Boerrigter.

The player has only started 4 games so far this season, he came with a reputation as an injury prone player and so far this has been the case.

However he has also bemoaned Celtic’s tactics, saying he can’t fit into the team at present.

“Celtic’s current tactics don’t work to my advantage.

“The manager has asked me if I can eventually play on the left side of midfield in a Gareth Bale-type role and I like the sound of that. In recent weeks the team has been winning virtually every time and I have been a regular substitute.

“It is my intention to get into the starting line-up in the foreseeable future. If that doesn’t happen I will have to go and knock on the manager’s door and we will need to talk.”

As the games slip by till the end of the season it remains to be seen if Derk will get his chance.

If he is to be any sort of success at Celtic Park he needs to get his head down and get on with it.

There is a big chance he may leave in the Summer.
