DERMOT DESMOND is pressing on with his bid to hold a large stake in Shamrock Rovers delivering a €3million investment in the Irish club which will see him hold a stake in the club but NOT a controlling stake.

There were reports Celtic’s majority shareholder was looking to make a partnership between Celtic and Rovers but according to Balls.ie this wouldn’t be the case – or is not the initial reasoning behind the investment at least.

Desmond has had a busy week, in conference with Peter Lawwel and the fact he and the chief executive will be the two people responsible for deciding who the next full-time Celtic manager will be.

Only 200 available!!

It’s believed the investment in Shamrock Rovers will go towards academy infrastructure and will set Rovers apart from other clubs in the league who cannot find this sort of cash injection.

If Desmond does have a hand in the Irish club, you can be sure if the bhoys are interested in a player there would be some sort of chat with the majority shareholder about bringing them to Glasgow.

Also, the opportunity to send young players overseas to get game time and first team experience down the line would also be beneficial.
