The Parkhead board will wait until the summer before making a decision on the next permanent manager of Celtic Football Club but the debate and the odds rage on as to who that man will be come the first game of the season.

Neil Lennon is the heavy favourite and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Roberto Martinez shot up past Marco Rose last week but it’s doubtful the Spaniard will leave his position at Belgium boss before the Euros.

Marco Rose seems to be a lot of the fans choice, his Salzburg side dismantled Celtic in the Europa League but ended up only going one more round extra in the competition than the bhoys with Napoli knocking Salzburg out of the Europa League.

One man whose odds were very high when the betting started has been slowly creeping up the odds table and now sits at 8/1 to be the next full-time Celtic boss, we’re talking about David Moyes.

There was a time when Celtic fans would have been clamouring for the Scotsman to take over at Parkhead. His days at Everton were successful enough and there was a feeling he could come to Celtic at some point in his managerial career.

He took over at Manchester United in what was the poison chalice of the post-Fergie era that has gotten a few top managers sacked before. His descent down the ranks continued when the former Celtic player went to Spain to manage Real Sociedad and then his stint at Sunderland bringing his stock to an all-time low.

Right now, David Moyes is a choice not many Celtic fans would be happy to see come in the doors at Celtic Park. Could he be part of the discussion for the board? He probably will be in all honesty.

Dermot Desmond picks the Celtic boss more times than not and he could fancy Moyes to rehabilitate Celtic while he fixes his own reputation.

The list of managers linked with the club is hardly inspiring at present. Who would you like to see come in?

  1. Can’t see what makes people think Marco Rose would be a viable candidate, maybe it’s just because he put on a Celtic scarf when they met us at parkhead a few months ago , fantasyland

  2. Any manager that does not believe in zonal marking , has no faith in wing back play, and wants his defence to stray no further than the 18 yard box at all times, develop players that can follow the flight of the ball , at corners and free kicks and use a combanation of 6 good attacking direct forwards playing a minimum 4 square on in and arround oponents box in attack

  3. Id rather Lennon ahead of Moyes, Lambert, Alex Neil, etc etc. Can’t see Martinez as a realistic option, sadly. Rose, Im not sure about, though his team battered us.
If we are to pay 50k a week we can get someone very decent but

  4. Lenny until June. Then a manager whos not scared of comitment, attacking football with a good defensive eliment, the crowd behind him no matter what. And no wandering during his contract. Not that much to ask. Now is it. Either that or buy the rest of the teams in the Spfl.

  5. Marcel Bielsa from Leeds United. Great tactician, experienced and would bring a new dimension to Celtic with his development/promotion of young players
