It’s been touted since January and finally the deal has gone through taking Leo Hjelde from Celtic to Leeds Utd.

The Norwegian has a big future in the game and Celtic fans were excited to see what Leo could do this season. However, it was clear from the start of this campaign that Hjelde had his head turned.

Celtic are in rebuild mode and the defender could have got some game time if he had shown he wanted to stay.

Instead, a move down south appealed to him and his representatives. Former Celtic player and assistant manager John Collins was in attendance for the player signing his Leeds deal.

There had been whispers about Celtic’s handling of Kristoffer Ajer this summer as a reason for Leo’s decision to leave but given the rumours of this move came long before this summer – we find that hard to believe.

We wish the youngster all the best.

Celtic must look to keep their best players happy and at the club going forward. Hjelde should be the last lad who leaves us before getting his chance their chance in the first team
