First off the bat, we think Celtic’s decision to make a trip out to the UAE at a time when many can’t even see relatives back home was a huge misfire.

However, it has to be reiterated the club followed all proper channels in order to make the trip. They made sure they were on the right side of everything from a legal standpoint and got the permission needed to go.

Now, as we say, you can argue the merits of why they decided to go but you can’t pull them up for a trip or investigate them for something which was given the green light.

What makes it more ludicrous is the government which gave them the green light then asks for an investigation into their trip. It’s pretty embarrassing from the government.

It’s got even more embarrassing with the Scottish FA telling Sky Sports they will NOT be investigating Celtic’s trip and as they and the government already knew and had given permission for an elite training camp.

The media have jumped on this story since the bhoys flew out and BBC man Chris Mclaughlin found his voice at Tuesdays First minister’s Q&A. Imagine the idiocy of the national broadcaster asking the first minister about a football club’s pre-approved trip abroad when there’s much more pressing things at play.

Embarrassing episode.
