FORMER Leeds, Coventry and Aberdeen player Noel Whelan claims there has to be something behind the Scott Sinclair situation at Celtic Park which is not being made public.
The ex-pro turned pundit doesn’t claim to have any inside knowledge but based on his own experiences believes there’s more than the manager not fancying the player.
Whelan who works for BBC Radio Leeds nowadays spoke to Football Insider about the situation of his fellow Englishman at Celtic and pondered the reasons for his exile.
“It’s a baffling situation,”
“There’s been a fall-out at the training ground, or something’s happened at the training ground. That’s the only explanation, really, that I can think of.
“Yes, Celtic have started the season very well, but Scott Sinclair is easily good enough to get in their squad and, in the team as well, when he’s fit and firing.
“Just look at his record under Brendan Rodgers. He was superb and won the Scottish player of the year.
“There’s obviously something happened behind the scenes with Lennon. Otherwise, he would be in the team. Yes, Celtic have some really good players, but Sinclair is a proven matchwinner at that level.”
The speculation will continue but likely there will be no resolution or explanation until Scott leaves the club. It was only this summer the board and Neil Lennon extended the player’s contract by triggering the one-year extension to the midfielder’s deal.
It’s a very strange situation and one that many fans will bypass because the team are doing well on the field at the moment. The more inquisitive among us would like to know why a player who has gave Celtic such great service over the past three years is currently an afterthought.
Could Scott be set for a recall to the first team for the visit of Partick Thistle. Many thought the player would have got game time in the previous round against Dunfermline but Sinclair didn’t even make the bench.
The last time Sinclar made a Celtic squad was just after the English window had closed and he came on as a sub during the win against Motherwell.
It’s has been Scott sinclair all his footballing carrer go look at his cv man always has a good season or two then he somehow falls by the way side don’t know what that’s all about but remeber there was a rumour just after lenny had took over about how one of the senior players was being a bitch and moaning how Brendan never shouted at them was it him and let’s be honest he hasn’t been the greatest the last 18 months and I believe the players we’ve brought in are better or will give more to the club just now when we’re needing it and I also reckon that the contract was only lit because they didn’t think they would get another winger in then we got Elyounoussie on loan on the last day anyway Mon the hoops hail hail
Scott Sinclair has been terrible the last year. Everybody says he was good. S what. The last 18 months he has been rotten and Lenny has found him out. If you go to the games you will hear the stick Sinclair takes for his performances. Offers Nothing. Wont go past anybody. Contribution to the team zero.
