Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has come to the defence of Glasgow after a Danish journalist branded it one of Europes’s ugliest cities.

The draw for the Europa League has threw up a tie between Celtic and a Danish Side Copenhagen and the intrigue has already started around the tie.

Andreas Kraul took to social media to give Glasgow a write up on what to expect if you’re a Danish fan visiting the City.

The former Celtic player was quick to defend the city he lived in while playing for Celtic and even gave the journalist tips on where he should go when he visits the city in February.

‘Have you been to the West End? Finnieston area? Take a walk along the river? Have a cup of coffee at Eusebi’s? And walk through beautiful Kelvingrove Park on a sunny day with little William in stroller and Muffi strolling?’? Sviatchenko wrote.

Erik has a great love for Celtic and the city and has returned many times since leaving the club.

The journalist replied: ‘Fair calling: I’ll take your route here on match day in February and come up with a review directly in @LIGAdrp3 before kick off … #JusticeForGlasgow’

Celtic are fancying their chances against Copenhagen in February but the Danish side and the people surrounding the club seem confident they can win the game. There’s no talk of upsets in their camp as they seem to hold the belief both teams are on a par with one another.

It will all come down to back to back fixtures within a week at the end of February.
