CELTIC will be in the pot for the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League on Tuesday and will find out who they’ll be up against later in September.

There was the opportunity for a bye, straight to the playoff round of the competition but the club missed out on that opportunity which was a long shot.

Celtic will be up against one of the winners from the following round 2 ties.

It means that Celtic COULD theoretically play KR Reykjavik again should they progress to the next qualifying round.

This would continue the theme of Celtic playing the same opponents in Europe in different competitions. The club played Cluj twice home and away last term in the Champions League and the Europa League.

Supporters are still smarting from Celtic’s very premature Champions League exit but we have to move on quickly. The Europa League offers a chance for redemption. Celtic need to get through the third round and a playoff to make this year’s competition. The playoff round will be a one-off tie and WON’T be a two-legged tie.
