Celtic have recently been linked with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Portuguese young talent has sparked considerable speculation about his next career move after posting a cryptic sand timer emoji on his Instagram feed, fuelling rumours of an impending transfer. Silva’s name was associated not just with Celtic but also with their Glasgow rivals, Rangers.

As Celtic look to bolster their attacking options, Silva was a name mentioned. Celtic have an issue with having zero strikers in January due to the Asia cup.

The potential deal for Silva was touted to be an initial loan move.

Celtic’s interest in Silva was quashed by a source close to the club not long after the Instagram post.

Celtic is looking at other options ahead of the January window after being offered Silva’s services by his agents.

The Hoops are looking for first team players to hit the ground running. Silva looks more like a project.

He will likely line up against Celtic this season.

  1. Why spend big money on a player who hasn’t scored on regular basis, we need a striker who has scored plenty and on a regular basis, like every season and in a top league with good club.

Project players are no good and waste good money that could be spent on a player who’s already established with a club.

  2. Exactly Paul, spent £10m in summer on projects – plus wages, which could have been spent on a proven GK, LB or striker that we actually needed. The lack of a coherent strategy is the biggest worry – singing so many development players when we have no strategy or way of getting them the regular game time required… It’s head scratching.
