Rumours have been swirling about Tottenham Hotspurs’ potential pursuit of Celtic’s manager, Ange Postecoglou. This development hardly comes as a shock, seeming almost like a foregone conclusion.
Now, the highly respected and typically spot-on Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on the possibility of Postecoglou’s departure from Celtic:
Tottenham have scheduled new round of talks with Ange Postecoglou at the beginning if next week — he remains leading candidate. 🚨⚪️ #THFC

As said, Postecoglou is the leading candidate for the Spurs job. This is no surprise.
However, the fact new talks have been scheduled may suggest there have been prior ones.
Indeed, Postecoglou is emerging as the frontrunner for the Spurs’ managerial position, a development that hardly raises eyebrows.
The scheduling of fresh discussions, however, implies that previous conversations may have taken place. No agreement has been reached thus far, given that Luis Enrique remains a viable contender.
At present, it seems Postecoglou’s undivided attention is directed towards the monumental Scottish Cup final against Inverness this Saturday.
The opportunity to clinch a treble is a rare feat, one that deserves to be relished.
Moreover, for all the Celtic faithful are aware, this match could potentially be Postecoglou’s swansong at the helm of the club.
While the fans may harbour hopes of this not being the case, there’s no escaping the escalating speculation surrounding his future.
I didn’t know until today that Daniel Levy, Chairman of Tottenham, was a Rangers Director back in 2004. Interesting!
I’ve been doing a bit of research on Levy and if I was Ange I’d give him a body swerve. Tottenham have a reputation of meaning the most frugile of clubs in the EPL when it comes to buying players, and managers who have even a short-term run of bad results can find themselves getting the boot very quickly. It’s a completely different scenario to Celtic. If Ange gets offered the Tottenham job and accepts it, then he can consider his coat on a shaky peg for the foreseeable future. It’s more of a risk for him to go to Tottenham than it is for Tottenham to recruit him. Besides that, I’ve said before that Ange has a lot to prove in Europe. Last year’s results were abysmal, so he has a lot to prove before moving on. Winning domestic cups in Scotland is decent, but it’s not the test of a great manager. If he leaves now, he leaves the job at Celtic half done and that would change my opinion of him completely.
It’s all end of season paper talk trying to fill the back pages, I think he will give the champions league another shot.
