Celtic made two major changes to their starting 11 today. Giakomakis and Juranovic both started. Fans have been eager to see the Greek striker and they will be happy with today’s inclusion. Abada, whose form has dropped a bit in recent weeks got dropped to the bench.

Juranovic comes back from injury and went straight into the unsettled left-back position. This puts a question mark over how highly the manager rates Bolingoli.

Celtic were unbeaten in 16 league meetings with St Johnstone (W13 D3) since a 1-2 defeat in May 2016 under Ronny Deila. The visitors are without a win in 10 league visits to Celtic Park (D3 L7) since winning 1-0 in March 2015 under Tommy Wright.

The Hoops are unbeaten in 10 home league games while conceding just three goals and scoring 31.

Celtic took five minutes before they got a foothold in the game with the visitors getting on the front foot from the first whistle.

Then Carter Vickers and McGregor both had half chances as the Bhoys looked to pick up from where they left off on Tuesday.

Up until the 25th minute and there were 4-5 decent low balls put into the box by Jota and Kyogo that always seemed to land at opposition defenders feet. No real chances at goal but it’s all Celtic now.

On the 34th minute, Greek striker Giakoumakis scored his first Celtic goal in his first start much to the delight of the massive home crowd. Ralston with the assist here to give the Celts a one-goal lead.
