DAMIEN DUFF was brought into Celtic’s coaching team towards the end of Brendan Rodgers’ reign at Celtic and stepped up to the role of First Team Coach when Neil Lennon was appointed as interim manager which then turned permanent.

After coaching Celtic to their ninth title in a row, Damien Duff was appointed as Ireland’s assistant manager in April 2020, later it would be announced he would coach Shelbourne Under 17s. He stepped back from international football to focus on this role.

During Celtic’s manager hunt earlier this year, Damien Duff’s name was thrown in the hat. Nothing materialised and Duff is now expected to take up his first managerial role in Ireland.

After initially rejecting the opportunity to manage Shelbourne, he is set to be announced as their new manager on Wednesday.

The Irish Independent claim that after seeking assurances from the board, Duff reconsidered his offer. The final details of his contract are still to be agreed on, however, confirmation of his appointment his expected in the next 24 hours.
