CHARLY MUSONDA was brought to Glasgow on an 18-month loan by Brendan Rodgers. The manager claimed that he beat Real Madrid to sign the young winger.

However, he was sent back to Chelsea after failing to impress.

‘With his Chelsea contract set to expire in the summer, Joe Mourinho’s Roma are ready to swoop in for the 25-year-old’s signature. Mourinho knows Musonda well, and in London, he was the gaffer when Musonda was setting the youth scene alight.’ [GOAL]

The winger is almost certain to leave the capital this summer, given Chelsea’s current situation. Moving to Italy would be a smart move for the player.

Musonda wasn’t bad when he was at Celtic, and he looked like a decent player, although it was clear he had yet to undergo a lot of development. The player’s involvement in the game against Zenit St Petersburg in the knockout stage of the Europa League was brilliant and helped Callum McGregor send Parkhead crazy.

His loan was cut short by 14 months, with suggestions that Rodgers wasn’t impressed with the player’s attitude.

Since then, Charly has struggled with major injury concerns and has nearly walked away from the game all together. Aged 25, hopefully, that’s all behind him as he tried to make something of his career.

We wish him all the best.
