PAUL LAMBERT believes Eddie Howe and Celtic would be a good fit if the Englishman comes in as the next permanent Hoops manager.

The Bhoys are still working under interim coach John Kennedy and no matter who is appointed that will continue until the end of this season.

However, if it’s Howe, Lambert is of the opinion the former Bournemouth boss would fit well but also claimed there were plenty of viable candidates out there who could do an incredible job.

“I think whoever goes in has a big job on their hands.” Lamber told SunSport.

“It’s a fantastic football club, it’s worldwide, and they’ll need to thrive off the pressure that comes with that.

“If Eddie does get it I think he’ll be a good fit, but I think there’s loads of candidates out there who could take what is an incredible job.

“But you have to realise that you need to win every week regardless of whether it’s in Europe or in the league and cups. You have to win.”

Paul has said in past media appearances he would never manage Celtic because he has such good memories as a player. I think what the former Champions League winner seen with his pal Neil Lennon has put him off the idea of ever following in his footsteps.

Not that Paul was in the running, he’s found the managerial game a struggle as of late and finds himself out of a job after a tough season at Ipswich.

If Eddie Howe is appointed soon, he will have the rest of this term to analyze the team from a distance and start planning for the summer.
