Former Celtic hero, Emilio Izaguirre has been slapped on the transfer list by his club Motagua back in his homeland of Honduras.

Izzy had two spells with Celtic during his career, the first much more notable than the second when they picked him up to play back up to an injured Kieran Tierney.

He’s been playing football back in Honduras but after a furious bust-up with his manager because he wasn’t getting played, the club have transfer listed the defender and his future looks elsewhere.

Queue the jokes from Celtic fans saying we should re-sign Izzy for the third time.

He was a great servant and a fan-favourite with the Hoops, signing under Neil Lennon during his first stint at the club.

Speaking out about the bust-up, Izzy admitted to Sunsport his football future might be abroad.

“I was just there to fill the squad. I never felt valued by him. I am a player who has dedicated himself to Motagua and its history. Celtic paid this club £2million because of me.

“I worked hard and tried to respect everyone. I admit I got angry once or twice with the manager because he wasn’t playing me. But I have always respected him.

“He’s not told me I am not in his plans yet. I haven’t been playing for the money at Motagua, but they have hugely disrespected me.

“I am an experienced player, I have won a lot of trophies abroad and played in two World Cups.

“I still enjoy football, I still have a passion for playing. I thought I could go back to my homeland and play football, but they have taken it away from me.

“I don’t want to go abroad because my children are settled, but I might have to.

“This is very painful for it to end like this because at Celtic I felt appreciated and valued.”

Emilio is 34 but still believes he has a lot left in the tank.

We Hope the player sorts out his current situation and gets back to playing. There are plenty of clubs in Scotland who wouldn’t mind taking the player on.

Celtic currently have Diego Laxalt as their number one left back but they still haven’t permanently replaced Kieran Tierney. Greg Taylor is capable and a good squad player.
