Former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has insisted that Ange Postecoglou’s side now find themselves in the driving seat, with the Premiership title theirs to lose after taking top spot last week.

At the beginning of his spell as manager, Commons was critical of Postecoglou, with things taking some time to click under the 56-year old during the early stages of this campaign.

However, writing in his column for the Daily Mail, the former Scotland internationalist has now praised the Hoops ruthlessness and the new additions to the squad in the January window, with Postecoglou’s side now in the ideal place to go and win the title.

“There’s now a ruthlessness to this Celtic team. A relentless streak which, from their position at the top of the table, means it’s now their title to lose from here.

“They have all the momentum. That can take you a long way, but there’s also the fact that, quite simply, they are just playing a much better brand of football than Rangers.

“In terms of the style being implemented by both managers, Celtic are further along their journey under Postecoglou than Rangers are under Van Bronckhorst.

“The Dutchman got his tactics totally wrong in the Old Firm game.

“Rangers sat far too deep and were too passive, allowing Celtic all sorts of space in the wide channels.

“Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley absolutely strolled their way through the game, with the Japanese midfielder proving to be the matchwinner with two excellent goals.

“Signed for roughly £1.5million apiece, they already look to be two outstanding acquisitions for Celtic, adding to several others brought to the club by Postecoglou.

Kyogo Furuhashi is the pick of the bunch in that respect.”

Heading into the final 13 games of the season, it is all set up for a gruelling battle for the Premiership title, and after Wednesday night’s impressive victory, Postecoglou’s side has put themselves in the best position at this moment in time.

In recent weeks, it has been clear to see the building momentum of this Hoops side, who have looked unstoppable at times when going forward.

Hopefully, this is something we can see continue, with Ange also continuing to prove the doubters, such as Commons wrong, given his comments at the beginning of the season.
