Former Celtic loan star Moi Elyounoussi finally got his chance with Southampton on Wednesday night. The winger got the nod to play in the League Cup with his parent club against Newport County.

The Norwegian sat on the bench during the club’s 1-1 draw with Manchester Utd at the weekend but the manager brought Moi into play as he changed up the starting XI against inferior opposition.

Newport were blown away by the St Mary’s club; losing 8-0 on the night.

It was the former Celtic star who would grab the match ball with a standout display. Moi grabbed a hat-trick for Southampton on a night where he took the chance he was given with bite hands.

Moi spent two years at Celtic playing under Neil Lennon. The winger got among the goals for the Hoops too and scored some spectacular efforts.

So far, the club have not been able to find a replacement for Moi – Ryan Christie, Furuhashi and even James Forrest have played in the position this season.

The window is closing in less than a week – the club better get a move on if they’re going to find a replacement.
