Former Celtic academy star Ben Doak last night made his competitive debut for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tends to rotate his team in the competition and handed a debut to the 16-year old who has impressed since his move down south.

He joined former Aberdeen defender on the park for the Reds penalty shoot-out win over Derby with the future looking bright for Scottish talent coming through at Anfield.

This is not the first time that Doak has made has made his professional senior debut as the winger made a handful of appearances under Ange Postecoglou before making the switch down south.

Since joining the Merseyside club, Doak has gone from strength to strength and merited his call-up to the Liverpool first team having already made 16 appearances this season scoring eight goals and contributing six assists.

This form has not gone unnoticed at international level having recently been called up by Scott Gemmill to represent Scotland at under-21 level.

It was always going to be difficult for the Hoops to hold on to a prospect as good as Doak with it likely that he wouldn’t have put any of the Celtic forwards at the time out of the team with the decision to head south looking to have paid off.
