Gary Mackay-Steven could be on his way back to Scotland after his New York City contract ended.

The former Celtic and Dundee Utd star had been playing under Ronny Deila in the states but is now looking to come home.

Sky Sports are reporting the winger could be set for a return to Aberdeen but Hearts are also very keen on signing the midfielder.

GMS is only 30 and still has a lot of football to play before he hangs up his boots.

It would make sense he would land back in Scotland this month. If he goes to Hearts he has the chance to help gain promotion, if he heads back to Aberdeen he would be able to slide back into the team with not too much transition.

Both he and Stuart Armstrong were signed by the club from Dundee Utd at the same time under Deila. Stuart Armstrong helped his side beat Liverpool this week and has shot to Premier League stardom.
