LIAM HENDERSON’S contract with Bari is set to be null and void after the club went into financial meltdown this week.

The club who had been facing questions over financial irregularities had a deadline to register the club again in Serie B. However, due to finances, they were not eligible to register and will now have to start again in the lowest tier of Italian football.

Liam only went over to Bari just 6 months ago with the midfielder making a big impression in Serie B – so much so that Fiorentina among other Italian clubs had been vying for his services in the close season.

It was reported by Football Italia that a £2million bid was forthcoming for the former Celtic youngster but Bari rejected this – which seems absolutely crazy if true.

The Mayor of Bari mourned the loss of the football team but vowed this would not be the end.

“This is a bad day, not only for football in Bari, but for the whole city.

“We have to keep working with all our strength because football in Bari cannot end on this July afternoon. The city doesn’t deserve it and the fans don’t deserve it.”

Henderson had been training with Hibs earlier this month before setting off with Bari for pre-season. The player will now have to immediately assess his future and figure out if he’s in Italy for the long term.

  1. No Tim, they may change their registrered Name to BARI INTERNATIONAL CALCIO CLUB though. But not their club crest, and will still sell their Tifosi the original five’d star top and ’72 Cwc top to them, and play a game against Ac Milan, for their fighting fund. And rob all them too. Like the sevconians. Who have never gone titz up?

  2. We need to take him back, it was a mistake letting him go! This kid has all the poise and passing ability of a young Mcstay, with Armstrong gone he might get a chance to show that!
