Although it is only the end of June, many clubs, along with Celtic, are more than dipping into the transfer market.

Wigan Athletic is the latest tea, to have done so and on Tuesday evening, they announced the capture of Liam Morrison.

The 20 year old came through Celtic’s academy and was highly rated at Lennoxtown however German giants Bayern Munich snapped him up in 2019.

Morrison has made numerous appearances for the youth teams of Bayern and has even made the first team bench previously.

Now, though, the central defender is seeking consistent game time thus his move to the Lactics.

It is quite fitting that another former Celt, Shaun Maloney, is managing the club and it certainly looks like he helped in the securing of this deal.

Morrison will play his club football with Wigan in English League One for the duration of the 2023/24 season.

It will be intriguing to see how he gets and those at Celtic will be watching him from afar.
