Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has admitted he was surprised to see English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur let Hoops summer recruit Joe Hart go so quickly.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, the 69-year old believes that new Spurs boss  Nuno Espirito Santo was possibly a little too quick to let the 34-year old go, who moved to the Hoops a matter of weeks after the Portugues coach became manager at the London club.

He said: “Sometimes I’m surprised. For instance, Nuno has come in and made a big decision on Hart for a start. He wouldn’t really know Hart too well. He’d obviously know of his ability.”

Hart has made a decent start to life at Parkhead, helping Ange Postecoglou’s side to reach the Europa League group stages.

Some weren’t sure how to feel when the veteran shot-stopper was set to join the club, but so far, he has shown that he will add experience and leadership to the side.

Signing a player like that for a fee in the region of £1 million feels like good business so far.

Of course, it remains to be seen how the deal will go in the long run as it is still early days. At the very least, though, Hart will add a lot in the changing room with that experience at the top level.
