Reports from Japan suggest that Giorgos Giakoumakis is close to leaving Celtic for Urawa Reds of the J–League 1.
Negotiations between the two clubs are said to be progressing well, with the potential transfer offering Giakoumakis a lucrative salary in the J-League.
The striker has been reportedly unhappy with his role at Celtic Park since the World Cup, desiring a wage increase.
Despite his importance in helping the Hoops win the title in Ange‘s first season, if his mind is made up, Celtic may have to look for another striker before the window closes at the end of January.
Giakoumakis came on as a second half sub against Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon and was very unlucky not to get on the score line.
