Celtic will play their Glasgow rivals this weekend after RecordSport confirmed the first minister and her advisors are set to rubber stamp the decision in the coming hours.

There was major doubt over the game going ahead this weekend after the scenes from two weeks ago where The Rangers fans broke strict stay at home orders to party in the streets with no social distancing and some even breaking property.

This prompted discussion with the football authorities, Police Scotland, the government and the two clubs.

Celtic were clear from the beginning, their fans were unfairly dragged into this discussion because of the scenes outside Ibrox and George square.

Nicola Sturgeon wasn’t keen on the game going ahead if there was any likelihood of fans on the streets before or after the tie. Her fears have seemingly been eased as both clubs put out stay at home messages.

It might be a dead rubber compared to previous Glasgow derbies but there’s still pride and bragging rights to play for on the day.
