Celtic has reiterated its decision to refuse a 700 ticket allocation for upcoming derby fixtures at Ibrox, citing persistent safety concerns.

This decision comes despite ongoing discussions between Glasgow clubs about reinstating traditional away allocations for these high-profile matches.

Earlier in the season, Celtic declined approximately 700 tickets for a match at Ibrox, underscoring their emphasis on the safety of their supporters.

The club has advocated for a return to the larger away allocation of around 7,500 supporters at both grounds, which is considered more traditional and potentially safer.

STV reports that Celtic’s position remains unchanged, even as recent talks have taken place between the two clubs.

It was suggested that Celtic would receive 750 tickets for their next visit to Ibrox, scheduled for Saturday, April 6. Similarly, Rangers would be allotted an equivalent number of tickets for their journey to Parkhead in the post-split fixtures, provided the discussions conclude positively.

The SPFL has reportedly encouraged both clubs to find a resolution, which sparked these talks, with the broader perspective being that the current impasse detracts from the spectacle of what is often a highly charged and eagerly anticipated match.

The club is acutely aware of the potential risks and insists that ensuring the safety of their supporters is paramount, as any serious incident would be as much a concern for them as for Rangers.
