Kamara’s legal representative Aamer Anwar has told MailSport the Rangers player is ‘extremely grateful’ for the well wishes sent by Celtic supporters in the aftermath of the disgusting racist abuse he suffered on Thursday.

Footage was sent around the world today of Celtic captain crossing into the Rangers half during warm up to acknowledge and show support to the Ibrox player after what’s gone on.

The clip of the video and the image has gone viral with so many delighted to see The Celtic captain make the gesture to show rivalry is nothing when it comes to racism.

Mr Anwar released a statement in where Kamara thanks the Celtic support.

“Glen is extremely grateful to Rangers and the outstanding, unconditional statement of support from his manager Steven Gerrard. He is also extremely grateful for messages from many Celtic fans wishing him well. Despite the great football divide it’s good to know there is a unity in this fight. The real onus now is on what happens next.

“If UEFA and other organisations are really serious about giving racism the red card we need to see more than just condemning it, we need to see tough sanctions being deployed. We are seeing senior players opting not to take the knee because it is seen as tokenism. It will continue to be tokenistic unless we see any real change.”

Celtic and their Glasgow rivals played out a draw at Parkhead on Sunday. The game was largely forgettable with no major flash points and supporters staying away from the stadium.

Scott Brown’s gesture, while it looks small, is a profound and moving image.

It’s why he’s the Celtic captain and why he’s respected among his peers. He’s a gladiator on the pitch but a classy guy with a great heart off the field.

Love Celtic. Hate racism.
