Kristoffer Ajer has been told he needs to quit Celtic as soon as possible to become a better player by his international boss.

Norway boss Stale Solbakken has told the defender he needs a move to one of the top five leagues at the end of the season because he is standing still in Glasgow.

Solbakken believes Norway suffer because Ajer isn’t coming up against quality opposition.

“I think he has got some habits which you do not notice until he meets better opposition in international matches or Europe. So I think that would be a smart move by him.” Solbakken told VG.

“He has to change league now, he must.”

“He should go to one of the five major leagues. He has the prerequisites to play in all those leagues. I’m calm about that.”

Ajer has been looking for a move for quite some time and doesn’t look like he will sign a new deal. Given the Norwegian is entering the final year of his Celtic FC contract, it stands to reason the club will try to cash in on him.

It becomes more complicated when you take into account the number of players leaving the club in this summer. The turnover is perhaps going to be the largest in modern day Celtic history.

If Ajer leaves, there’s very little in reserve when it comes to Celtic’s defence.

  1. Ajer can’t command his own penalty area can’t get to the first ball, and in the opposition area he’s rubbish. Never gets the first ball. So mr manager, you’ll need to do some work with him, oh you have been. Well it’s not worked.

  2. Well said George.
    He’s not all that!
He can be a bomb scare, to easy to go to ground.
He would do better concentrating on his own game rather than trying to tell other professional footballers around him what they should be doing. If he put as much effort into his game as he does trying to redeem himself after he makes a total mess of it, he would do a lot better.
He certainly has a big tip for himself, now maybe we know where it comes from.
What he really needs is to be more grounded and too nukle down and toughen up.
He does have some fantastic spells in games which stick out, but he ain’t no Mjalbi!

Where would you place him on this list?
