Celtic announced the signing of South Korean winger Yang Hyun-jun this morning. The 21-year-old put pen to paper on a five year deal in Glasgow, joining the Hoops from Gangwon FC in his homeland.

The signing has been in the making for a long while and it is one that will add yet more depth to the champions’ frontline, as of manager Brendan Rodgers (celticfc.com): “He’s a player that we’ve looked at closely and who we think will further enhance our attacking options which, of course, already include his fellow countryman Oh.”

As well as bringing strength, Yang will also add quality to Celtic’s attack. Rodgers touched on this, indeed praising the South Korean’s achievements: “He’s an exciting player who was the Young Player of the Year in South Korea last season, which is an indication of his quality, and I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to having a big impact at the club.”

There will be high hopes for Yang at Celtic. He does face stiff competition for a place in the team. Despite this, he was very keen to make the move according to his new gaffer: “It’s also clear that he was very keen to make this move to Celtic so I know he’ll be delighted that everything has now been agreed and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

Now, it is all about contributing to Celtic success for Yang. His dream move is sealed and it is certain he will be eager to make his debut, which could well come against Wolves in Dublin this weekend.
