Southend director Ron Martin has confirmed he will hold further talks with Celtic legend Henrik Larsson after the Swede was a guest of the club at the weekend.

The former Helsingborg coach is looking to get back into management and might be in line for his first managerial position in the UK.

Southend have been coy as they look for a new manager to try and lift them up the table but Henrik does seem like a genuine candidate at this point.

“Having Henrik Larsson join us on Saturday was simply part of the continuing interview process.” Martin told SunSport.

“I have a number of people to see this week and shall also be talking further with Henrik.”

Henrik cut ties with Helsingborg for a second time last month under a cloud when an investigation was opened into abuse the former striker was receiving. He did have the desired effect during his short second stint in Sweden with the player lifting the club off the bottom of the table.

Celtic fans would love to see Henrik come to Celtic in a coaching capacity in the future but it looks like he wants to make a fist of being a manager.
